The final property list for the 2025 tax sale will be updated after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025.
April 11, 2025 – The list of properties to be offered at tax sale becomes available on the tax sale website: https://taxsale.princegeorgescountymd.gov
April 11 - 25, 2025 - Online tax sale registration for the 2025 Tax Sale begins. A non-refundable $150.00 registration fee and a $1,000.00 deposit are required. The $1,000.00 deposit is applied to the purchase of tax sale certificates and refunded if no certificates are awarded. The $150.00 registration fee is not applied to the purchase of the tax sale certificates.
April 18, 25, and May 2, 9th, 2025 – Advertising in local newspapers, The Enquirer Gazette and The Prince George’s Post.
April 25, 2025 - This is the last day to register for the 2025 Tax Sale. You must upload your completed IRS W-9 by 5:00 p.m. EST.
May 5, 2025 – Bid submission begins. The highest bidder will be awarded the certificate on May 12, 2025.
May 9, 2025—The final tax sale listing will be posted on the tax sale website after 4:30 p.m. A notation on the website will indicate that the final update has been completed. All accounts on the final listing will be auctioned off at an online Public Auction on May 12, 2025.
May 12, 2025 -Tax Sale - Certificates for the Tax Sale will be grouped into three batches. Each account will be sold separately and awarded to the highest bidder for each account. Results will be displayed one hour following the close of each batch.
* The first batch will close at 10:00 a.m. EST.
* The second batch will close at 12:00 p.m. EST.
* The third batch (lots without improvements) will close at 2:00 p.m. EST
May 12, 2025 - Tax Sale ends at 2:00 p.m. EST. All successful bidders/purchasers will be notified by e-mail by 5 p.m. Successful bidders must wire the total amount due for all winning certificates purchased, including the high bid premium, no later than 4:00 p.m. EST. on May 13, 2025, the day following the tax sale.
Assignment Sale - Certificates for properties that remain unsold at the end of the tax sale on May 12th, 2025, can be purchased at lien value after the sale. The instructions and schedule for the Assignment Sale will be posted on the tax sale website after May 30th. The sale will not be held online; you do not need to register.
December 13, 2025— Attorney information can be added to the Treasury system for principal residence accounts; non-principal accounts can add attorneys on September 13, 2025. The attorney must be paid legal fees ($500.00 + $250.00 title search fees and postage), and a release must be obtained before tax accounts can redemption.
December 31, 2025 – The bidder's username and login will expire, and you are required to register each year to gain access.
February 13, 2025 – Foreclosure of Right of Redemption filings may occur after this date on a principal residence, and on a non-principal residence, you may file after November 13, 2025. Additional legal fees may be incurred.
