PLEASE NOTE: Properties will be removed from the list as payments are received from taxpayers. The website will be updated weekly.

 

The final property list for the 2024 tax sale will be updated after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024.

 

 

April 11, 2024 – The list of properties to be offered at tax sale becomes available on the tax sale website: https://taxsale.princegeorgescountymd.gov

 

April 12 - 26, 2024 - Online tax sale registration for the 2024 Tax Sale begins. A non-refundable $150.00 registration fee and a $1,000.00 deposit are required. The $1,000.00 deposit is applied toward the purchase of tax sale certificates and refunded if no certificates are awarded. The $150.00 registration fee is not applied toward the purchase of tax sale certificates.

 

April 19, 26, and May 3, 10th, 2024 – Advertising in local newspapers, The Enquirer Gazette and The Prince George’s Post.

 

April 26, 2024 - This is the last day to register for the 2024 Tax Sale. You must upload your completed IRS W-9 by 5:00 p.m. EST.

 

May 6, 2024 – The bid submission begins. Bids will be awarded to the highest bidder on May 13, 2024.

 

May 10, 2024 - The final tax sale listing will be posted on the tax sale website after 4:30 p.m. A notation on the website will indicate the final update has been completed. All accounts on the final listing will be auctioned by an online Public Auction on May 13, 2024.

 

May 13, 2024 -Tax Sale - Certificates for the Public Auction will be grouped into three batches.  Each account will be awarded to the highest bidder for each group. Results will be displayed one hour following the close of each batch.

 

* The first batch will close at 10:00 a.m. EST.

* The second batch will close at 12:00 p.m. EST.

* The third batch (lots without improvements) will close at 2:00 p.m. EST

 

May 13, 2024 - Tax Sale ends at 2:00 p.m. EST. All successful bidders/purchasers will be notified by e-mail by 5 pm.  Successful bidders must wire the total amount due for all winning certificates purchased, including the high bid premium, no later than 4:00 p.m. EST. on May 14, 2024, the day following the tax sale.

 

Assignment Sale - Certificates for properties that remain unsold at the tax sale on May 13th, 2024, can be purchased at lien value after the sale. The instructions and schedule for the Assignment Sale will be posted on the tax sale website after May 27th. The sale will not be held online; you do not need to register.

 

December 14, 2024 – Attorney information can be added to the Treasury system for principal residence accounts; non-principal accounts can add attorneys on September 14, 2024. Legal fees (up to $500.00 + $250.00 title search fees and postage) must be paid to the attorney, and release must be obtained prior to tax account redemption.

 

February 14, 2025 – Foreclosure of Right of Redemption filings may occur after this date on a principal residence, and on a non-principal residence, you may file after November 14, 2024. Additional legal fees may be incurred.

All bids must be made in good faith. All bids placed, whether intentional or not, are the responsibility of the bidder and may not be withdrawn. Should a successful bidder not make full payment for any or all of the certificates that are awarded in the tax sale, including any associated High Bid Premium, they will not be awarded any certificates and they may be prohibited from participating in future tax sales. The certificates will be awarded to the next highest bidder. No budgets will be established for the purpose of determining the maximum amount allowable for the purchase of certificates. All bidders are required to monitor their auction account to ensure funds for successful bids are available for payment at the close of the auction. Please be aware that your information provided may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA).
